Restricted thinking

Two ways to power the country:

Method 1:

Build a large power station to produce the energy
Allow the huge amounts of heat generated to escape into the atmosphere
Send the electricity down power lines so that 2/3 of the energy is lost
before it reaches it’s destination
Decide the only way to continue to do this as energy needs grow is by
building nuclear power stations (ignoring the risks of nuclear
proliferation, the prohibitive cost and the problem of what to do with
the waste)

Method 2:

Build several smaller power stations
Use the heat generated to . . . wait for it . . . heat things, like
homes and offices
Gain 50% efficiency because the electricity is not travelling so far
Need less energy and therefore be more willing and able to consider
renewable energy sources
